About Second Exposure
What changes
when you look again?
Second Exposure is an independent film-criticism project for movies that resist settling into a single reading.
I’m drawn to films where an image can mean two things at once, where form complicates story, and where a different viewer—or a different viewing—can produce a different argument.
The approach
The goal is not to decode a film or announce the correct interpretation. It is to make an argument, follow the evidence on screen, and leave enough room for another reading to stand beside it.
What gets reviewed
New releases will live alongside older films, genre cinema, independent work, and anything else worth returning to. A film does not need to be obscure to be deep, and it does not need to be flawless to be worth examining.
Reviews and Second Looks
Reviews consider the whole film. Second Looks stay with a particular idea, image, contradiction, or question for longer.
